Trip to KL. The plane took only half the time required to reach KL from Johor Bahru, in 25 minutes! It was a delightful shock to many passengers on board as the plane proceeded to descend soon without cruising. Good tailwinds attributed to this. The meandering river in the photo is actually Malacca Town. Nice view. While I was happily buying my RM35 tickets for the KLIA Ekspres at the machine, the porter came and said, "You can't use RM5 notes," just after I had inserted three RM10 notes. So I had to cancel the transaction, and the machine kindly gave me back six RM5 notes. I use a RM50 note to buy, and the machine happily returned more RM5 notes to me. So in the end, I have ten of them. Good one.
After breakfast at The Chicken Rice Shop, I went down to Sungei Wang. First, wash and cut my hair. Nice. Then bought a shirt. Basically there weren't anything nice and cheap to get, as it isn't the sale season. Sigh. But it is still the land of handphone shops man.
Passed by Zouk and snapped a pix. And I took another picture of the Bt. Bintang Monorel station and Lot 10. The weather is hellish hot that day, reaching 36 degrees. Nothing like you've experienced in Singapore, 'cos, after all, Kuala Lumpur is situated in a valley.
Also went to Berjaya Times Square, Suria KLCC and The Mid Valley Megamall to shop. Bought CD-R's at a cheap price. After all, I'm here for bargains. After that, it's time to head back to the Airport. There is a loophole in the KLIA Ekspres fare system such that if you're willing to spend double the time (about an hour) by taking the Transit train to Putrajaya, leaving the station, buy another ticket to KLIA, resume your journey on the next train, you pay RM15.50 instead of RM35. Heh.
The plane ride back was like nothing I've experience before. The lights had to be switched off early on to prepare for landing, but we were still in the regions above the clouds and we could not even see any lights on the ground, a strange thing for a ulu airport like Senai where a plane takes off or lands once every hour or so on average. You could see the clouds reflecting back the lights into the cabin when the spot lights outside the plane shine on them.
When we are finally descending, it was the steepest I have ever experienced, almost 45 degrees to the horizontal, and straight down to the runway. It was over in a few minutes, and we landed with a bump. On the way down, I spotted lights resembling that of an airport runway, bright red beacons blinking in a pattern centered around horizontal line, near the landing site. I wonder what was that.
Home by eleven. Nice.
